I prefer it to be compact and lightweight, but no sure yet if it's worth to. Impact drivers and drills look similar and can take on many of the same tasks. Being cheaper yet more powerful, getting another drill or an impact driver from the lineup sounds like a no-brainer, but I haven't decided which. Thats going to be more situational than driving fasteners, so I would go impact driver every day of the week. I have invested in the Bosch Blue 18V battery system, I have already had a combi drill (GSB 18V-55) and a circular saw. Impact drivers are better for driving screws and working as mini impact wrenches. And if the substrate isn’t resisting too much, the impact aspect doesn’t even occur until you get to the end. A hammer drill is only useful if you need to drill into masonry. Typically the impact noise is only a couple seconds intermittently. Clients, their kids, pets, my guys…įor me, personally, it’s worth the incredibly minimal risk to just say “fuck it” and not bother.Ĭause it’s not like it’s continuous, either. Plus, I need to hear what’s going on around me.
But, when I’m building a deck, I can’t waste that time, and muffs get really gross really quickly. I have to decide which is more important, having to put on and remove hearing protection after every fastener, or not wasting the time and also not being sweaty and gross.Īs a DIYer, sure… chuck on some muffs, drive your few screws, and be done.
Like I said, though… enclosed spaces are another story. It’s loud, but unless you’re putting your head next to it, I can’t imagine being bothered by it.
